Park Min-young cast in drama, Chun Jung-myung to join her?

Actress Park Min-young is still on the set of her current drama City Hunter, but she’s already been cast in her next project. She’ll be starring in the upcoming KBS drama Man of Honor, known also as the highly anticipated reteam of Baker King Kim Tak-gu‘s PD Lee Jung-seob and writer Kang Eun-kyung.

The drama is about two young people who overcome their fates and find love. Park will be playing a young woman who dreams of becoming a nurse like Florence Nightingale, even as she struggles with a harsh life. So not a light and fluffy drama, this one.

Not that I’d expect anything different from the Baker King team — that drama pretty much branded them as the overcoming-down-and-out-circumstances-to-achieve-your-dream drama people, though truthfully that drama drove me kind of nutty with its makjang story elements. Everything’s all Fate with a capital F and Destiny with a capital D, but the B didn’t stand for baking so much as Birth secrets. But for all its faults, Baker King was a ratings juggernaut, so they certainly know how to make a drama addictive.

The real question is who will play her leading man. Chun Jung-myung is reportedly up there as the top contender, which is just all manner of squee-inducing. So much pretty. But the lead role is still unconfirmed, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Man of Honor follows The Princess’s Man and premieres in October on KBS.
