Cover Dance Festival brings together K-pop stars and fans

A total of 16 teams participated in the final round of the 2011 K-pop Cover Dance Festival on Monday at the Gyeongju Gymnasium in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province. The winning team had the honor of joining K-pop stars on stage at the Korean Wave Dream Concert, which was held on the same day.

Popular K-pop groups such as Girls’ Generation, BEAST, MBLAQ and T-ara participated in the final round of the festival as the jury, while Girls’ Generation members Tiffany and Yuri, comedian Jeong Hyeong-don and rocker Yoon Do-hyun were the event hosts and performed as well.

Hosted by the Visit Korea Year Committee, the festival was held to bring together K-pop fans from around the globe. Cover dance refers to emulating the original choreography used in popular K-pop dances. More than 1,700 amateur dance teams from 64 countries submitted video entries via online for the first round.

The second round was held offline, in six cities- Moscow (Russia), Sao Paolo (Brazil), Los Angeles (U.S.), Tokyo (Japan), Bangkok (Thailand) and Madrid (Spain). A total of 66 participants from 10 countries were selected for the final round.

BEAST Finally Reveals Full Music Video for “I Like You The Best”

BEAST has made a successful comeback with their 4th mini-album,“Lights Go On Again,” but fans had yet to see the full music video for their song, “I Like You The Best,” featuring Son Na Eun from A Pink. However, the full music video was finally released just a couple hours ago. B2ST promotes audition program ‘Global Super Idol’


Group B2ST will promote the audition program Global Super Idol, which will air in November.

The production company for the show said, “The popular idol group B2ST was selected as a PR envoy to the show. They will perform their songs for fans and contestants from all over the world to help promote the show.”

B2ST members will attend the preliminaries in Korea, Thailand, and China. They will encourage the contestants and give advice.

Global Super Idol is a global audition program that pits finalists from Thailand and China against finalists in Korea. All the finalists will attend the main show in Korea. Since B2ST is very popular in Asian countries, including Thailand, Japan, and China, their popularity will help the show become popular too.

Tony, H.O.T’s former idol group member, will emcee the show.

The video of B2ST offering words of encouragement will be released later on the show’s official website and twitter.
