T-ara launches YouTube channel

Korean girl group T-ara will launch its own channel on YouTube to broadcast video and images from its European tour, the group’s agency announced on Saturday.

Tiara Will Not Attend Year-End’s Award Ceremony

The girl group Tiara will not attend various awards ceremony that will be held at the end of this year. Their agency, Core Content Media, said on November 10, “Tiara will not be able to attend awards ceremonies for singing groups such as ‘Melon Music Awards,’ ‘Mnet Asia Music Award,’ and ‘Golden Disc Award’ that will be held one by one starting from the end of this month.

T-ara to be Absent from this Year’s Award Ceremonies

T-ara will not be appearing in year-end awards ceremonies such as the Melon Music Awards, MAMA or the Golden Disk Awards. A representative from T-ara’s agency, Core Contents Media, told enews on November 10, “We received offers to appear in year-end ceremonies, but the group will not be present because of its schedules in Japan, China and Taiwan.” As such, the public will not be able to see T-ara perform or receive any awards in the ceremonies for this year.

K-pop bands T-ara and TVXQ ranked No. 1 on Japan’s Oricon singles and album charts as soon as they released their new recordings this month. Oricon reported Tuesday that the Korean singers’ new releases simultaneously placed first on the respective charts for the first time.

Cover Dance Festival brings together K-pop stars and fans

A total of 16 teams participated in the final round of the 2011 K-pop Cover Dance Festival on Monday at the Gyeongju Gymnasium in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province. The winning team had the honor of joining K-pop stars on stage at the Korean Wave Dream Concert, which was held on the same day.

Popular K-pop groups such as Girls’ Generation, BEAST, MBLAQ and T-ara participated in the final round of the festival as the jury, while Girls’ Generation members Tiffany and Yuri, comedian Jeong Hyeong-don and rocker Yoon Do-hyun were the event hosts and performed as well.

Hosted by the Visit Korea Year Committee, the festival was held to bring together K-pop fans from around the globe. Cover dance refers to emulating the original choreography used in popular K-pop dances. More than 1,700 amateur dance teams from 64 countries submitted video entries via online for the first round.

The second round was held offline, in six cities- Moscow (Russia), Sao Paolo (Brazil), Los Angeles (U.S.), Tokyo (Japan), Bangkok (Thailand) and Madrid (Spain). A total of 66 participants from 10 countries were selected for the final round.
